The growing capability of Grids as viable compute resource brokers is largely responsible for their acceptance beyond the traditional high-performance (HPC) research community. As applications become more grid-enabled, the business community is expected to increase significantly its investments in Grid computing over the next decade. These increasing demands for Grid computing, coupled with continued advancements in middleware and networking technologies, have raised concerns about the availability of a qualified workforce to address Grid-related issues. This workshop addresses issues in training a Grid workforce for the HPC research community and beyond.

Scope: Papers are invited that describe techniques, experiences, classroom activities, and academic or professional courses related to Grid education. Topics include but are not limited to:

Selection and presentation of topics for a module on Grid computing
Integration of Grid computing with existing graduate and undergraduate courses
Organization and pedagogical strategies for teaching Grid computing topics
Issues in managing Grid applications for teaching
Issues in setting up Grids for teaching
Grid services and their use in teaching
Applications used as vehicles to teach Grid computing
Innovative and simple-to-build applications and strategies for demonstrating Grid capabilities

Submitted papers must be unpublished and not submitted for publication elsewhere. Papers are to be not more than 8 pages of double column text using single spaced 10 point size type on 8.5 x 11 inch pages, as per IEEE 8.5 x 11 manuscript guidelines, see http://www.computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm. Authors should submit a PostScript (level 2) or PDF file that will print on a PostScript printer. Paper submission instructions will be placed on this webpage. It is expected that the proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society Press, USA.
